Badrinath Temple Opening & Closing Dates
Badrinath Dham opens every year during the summer months and remains closed throughout the winter due to heavy snowfall. Here's everything you need to know about the annual temple schedule to help plan your yatra with Shree Ram Tourism's.
The Badrinath Temple generally opens on the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya, which usually falls in late April or early May. In 2025, the expected opening date is May 10, 2025. The date is declared by the Rawal (chief priest) and the temple committee after religious rituals in April.
The temple usually closes around Vijaya Dashami or Bhai Dooj in October or early November. In 2025, the tentative closing date is October 27, 2025. After closure, the idol of Lord Badri is shifted to Joshimath for winter worship.
During winter, the idol of Lord Badrinath is worshipped at the Narsingh Temple in Joshimath. Pilgrims can visit there from November to April. Joshimath becomes a spiritual hub during these months for devotees who wish to continue their worship.
The best time to visit Badrinath is between May and June or September and October. These months offer ideal weather for travel and darshan. Avoid monsoon season (July-August) due to heavy rainfall and landslide risks.
Book your travel and accommodations early, especially for May and June. Carry woolen clothes even during summer, and check weather updates frequently. Shree Ram Tourism’s can help you plan and book your entire Char Dham yatra.
