Badrinath Weather - Month Wise Guide
Check the monthly weather conditions in Badrinath so you can plan your spiritual journey with comfort and safety. Understand the best times to travel and avoid seasonal disruptions.
April marks the beginning of the Char Dham season. Snow starts melting, roads reopen, and the weather is cold but pleasant during the day (4°C to 15°C). Warm woolen clothes are essential. The temple may open towards the end of this month.
May is one of the best months to visit Badrinath. Temperatures range between 8°C to 18°C. Skies are mostly clear, allowing smooth darshan and travel. It’s advisable to book in advance as this is peak season.
June is still a good time to visit with temperatures from 10°C to 20°C. However, by the end of the month, occasional pre-monsoon showers can be expected. Carry rain protection just in case.
Monsoon season begins. Heavy rainfall can cause landslides and roadblocks. Pilgrimage is not recommended due to safety concerns. Temperatures stay between 8°C to 16°C, with high humidity.
Monsoon continues, making travel risky. Roads can be slippery and uncertain. Pilgrims are advised to postpone their journey unless weather conditions are confirmed stable. Day temperatures hover around 10°C.
Post-monsoon weather becomes favorable again. With clearer skies and mild temperatures (8°C to 18°C), this month sees fewer crowds, making it a peaceful time to visit Badrinath.
October is the last month of pilgrimage before the temple closes. Cold starts settling in (3°C to 14°C), but it's spiritually rich as many devotees visit before winter. The temple usually closes for winter by end of October or early November.
Badrinath remains closed during these months due to extreme snowfall. The idol is shifted to Joshimath for worship. Temperatures drop below zero, and all routes remain inaccessible due to snow-covered terrain.
