Hemkund Sahib is one of the most sacred Sikh pilgrimage sites in India, nestled at an altitude of around 4,632 meters (15,197 ft) in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Located in the Garhwal Himalayas, the nearest town to Hemkund Sahib is Govindghat, which is well connected by road to Haridwar and Rishikesh. From Govindghat, pilgrims trek 13 km to reach Ghangaria, and from there, a steep 6 km trek leads to Hemkund Sahib.

According to the Dasam Granth, Guru Gobind Singh Ji performed intense meditation at Hemkund in his previous birth. A beautiful Gurudwara stands by the serene lake, offering peace and spiritual solace to thousands of devotees who visit during the yatra season.

The pristine Hemkund Lake is surrounded by seven snow-capped peaks. Pilgrims take a holy dip in its icy waters before entering the gurudwara. The water is believed to have healing properties and is spiritually purifying.

Hemkund Sahib is open from May to October. The best time to visit is during June to September when the weather is pleasant and the nearby Valley of Flowers is in full bloom, offering a mesmerizing sight.

Near Hemkund Sahib lies the Valley of Flowers National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The valley is a paradise for nature lovers and trekkers, with vibrant alpine flowers and lush green meadows spread across the terrain.
